My order is on hold - Activation Lock

How to Turn Off Find My Remotely

If you have sent your device to us, you’ll need to use another Apple device or a web browser.

Option 1: Using the iCloud Website (Any Computer or Phone)

This is the most universal method if you don't have another iPhone or iPad handy.

  1. Go to iCloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID.

  2. Click All Devices at the top of the screen.

  3. Select the device you sent to the buyback platform.

  4. If the device is offline (which it likely is, since it's in a box), click Remove from Account.

    • Note: If you see "Erase iPhone," do not click it unless you forgot to wipe your data. However, even after erasing, you must still click Remove from Account to fully unlock it.

Option 2: Using the Find My App (On another Apple device)

If you have an iPad, a Mac, or a new iPhone, this is often faster.

  1. Open the Find My app.

  2. Tap the Devices tab.

  3. Select your old device from the list.

  4. Swipe up to see more options and tap Remove This Device.

  5. Enter your Apple ID password to confirm.

Why "Remove from Account" is the Magic Step

Many people make the mistake of just "erasing" the device. While erasing deletes your photos and texts, it does not remove the Activation Lock.

Important: As long as the device is linked to your Apple ID, it is a "brick" to the buyback company. Clicking Remove from Account is what officially allows us to setup the device for inspection and testing.

What to Do After You’ve Removed It

Once you’ve performed the steps above, it’s a good idea to stay proactive:

  • Let us know you have removed find my. If you received an email from us asking that you take action because of an Activation Lock, click the link in the email to let us know that you have removed the Activation Lock so we may resume testing your device.
